Today, I read this fascinating blog post from Mark Batterson, Pastor of National Community Church.
He says that when we don't delegate we think we are doing someone a favor. We'll just do it ourselves so they don't have to do it. But we've got it backwards. Failing to delegate is stealing opportunities from others. We don't give them the opportunity to step up and step in. I want to be more conscientious this year about giving opportunities to others.
This doesn't come naturally to me. Why? Because it's usually easier to "just do it yourself." It's more work delegating up front. But the payoff is on the back end.
Delegation = freedom 4 you + opportunity 4 others.
